" La Societe de Femme is a fraternal organization comprised of
females members who are affliated with Veterans that are
Voyageur Militaire.
Membership may be granted by invitation only to any eligible
person upon the nomination of a Dame and executed on a form
furnished by Cabane Nationale. Each Cabane Locale shall
establish its own qualifications for its own members and of
petitioners for membership.
La Societe des Femmes participates in many activities at the
local, state and national levels. However, each of our programs
falls within the programs that are sponsored by the Forty and Eight,
since as an organization, La Femmes does not have any official
programs of its own. At the same time, however, La Femmes do
conduct some activities of their own. For example, they may assist
a family with a special needs child; prepare meals for a Voiture
activity; sponsor Halloween and Christmas parties for children;
participate in volunteer work; march in parades; assist in selling
program pins, patches and hats; and a wide variety of other
activities that all lend assistance to the Forty and Eight programs.
Each Cabane determines just how active it will be and are
constantly involved in creative ways of raising money for the Forty
and Eight programs."
